Our Junior Board is a group of dynamic and talented young professionals from a diverse range of industries in New York City who are committed to helping us close the 6,000-hour learning gap.

Junior Board members serve as ambassadors for ExpandED Schools and generate support for our work among their friends and colleagues.

 

 

Natalia Garzon

Natalia Garzon, Co-Chair

Natalia is the senior press officer at the Center for Reproductive Rights. Prior to joining the Center, Natalia worked at some of the most prominent public relations firms, including Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide's corporate practice and Ruder Finn's global issues division. Natalia graduated from Tufts University with a BA in economics.

Nicholas (Cole) Weston, Co-Chair

Cole is a real estate private equity analyst at Dune Real Estate Partners. He graduated from Yale University with a BA in economics. While at Yale, he taught weekly classes on non-violent conflict resolution as a volunteer at middle schools in New Haven.
Derek Berman

Derek Berman

Derek is a financial analyst at Neuberger Berman. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Delaware. While in college, Derek played for the University Water Polo team, tutored for MIS and Finance courses, and served as an academic and summer intern within the Corporate Investment Banking division at JP Morgan Chase & Co. After graduating, he moved to NYC and began working with Protiviti as a Management Consultant, before transitioning to industry.

Javier Colon

Javier Colon

Javier is an asset management analyst at Hanover Street Capital. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Baylor University. While in college, he participated in a mentoring program where he tutored underprivileged students.
Mark Colvin

Mark Colvin

Mark currently works as an analyst in the Client Coverage Support Group at the Neuberger Berman. He previously worked at the tech startup Keep Holdings, where he entered the organization's operations team as their second employee. He earned both a B.S. in Sociology and B.A. in Communications from Syracuse University. While attending college, Mark was chosen to speak at the New York State Senate advocating the benefits of continued Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) scholarship funding.

Rashid Duroseau

Rashid Duroseau is a 6th grade teacher at Democracy Prep Charter Middle School. Along with teaching 6th grade, Rashid also serves as the Civics Coordinator, creating and facilitating programs to engage the community in activism and politics. He graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts with a B.A. in Political Theory. Rashid has also participated in Teach for America. 

Jessica Jia

Jessica is a private equity associate at The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm based in Washington, D.C. Formerly, she was an investment banking analyst at J.P. Morgan. Jessica graduated from the University of Chicago, where in addition to her studies she worked extensively with a student-run organization that taught personal finance classes to underserved schools on the South Side of Chicago. She also researched the economics of education and looked at “ideal” pay-for-performance incentives for teachers.
Nicolle Lee

Nicolle Lee

Nicolle is a corporate development and strategy analyst at Voya Financial, a Fortune 500 financial services company. Nicolle also serves as the New York co-chair for Community Partners, Voya’s nationally recognized volunteer team. She graduated from Columbia College with a BA in financial economics. While in college, she mentored high school girls from under-resourced New York communities and was involved in organizations committed to promoting diversity on-campus.

Pedro de Lencastre

Pedro is an attorney and Strategic Client Manager at Thomson Reuters. Pedro partners with AM Law 100 law firms based in NY and advises them on knowledge management & legal technology. He graduated from McGill University with a B.A. in History and Political Science and got his law degree from American University, Washington College of Law.
Megan O'Grady

Megan O'Grady

Megan is a vice president/group account director of marketing at DigitasLBi, a global marketing and technology agency. She previously worked as an account supervisor at mcgarrybowen and Lipman, both advertising agencies in New York City. Megan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Barnard College, Columbia University.

Marissa Pizziferro

Marissa is the manager of Product Strategy at Thomson Reuters. She graduated from the undergraduate business school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Strategic Management. She has been actively involved in various programs providing enhanced learning opportunities to underprivileged students in Los Angeles, Wisconsin and New York.

Dan Rosenbloom

Dan is a strategy analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BS in finance and strategic management. While in college, he held positions in student government and was actively involved in the Student Philanthropy Council.
Scott Ulanoski

Scott Ulanoski

Scott is a bank examiner at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, a federal bank regulator. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He graduated from the University of Louisville with a BS in economics and mathematics.
Tim Westcott

Tim Westcott

Tim Westcott is a private equity associate at Irving Place Capital. He previously worked as an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse. Tim graduated from Yale University, where he studied Electrical Engineering. While in college, he researched computer vision applications to low-cost medical diagnostic tools and served as Treasurer and Captain of the Yale Skeet & Trap team.
Evan Wu

Evan Wu

Evan Wu is a global macro investment analyst at Balyasny Asset Management. Wu previously worked at D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College, where he studied chemistry, physics and statistics. While in college, he served as CFO of the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra.
Wonpyo Yun

Wonpyo Yun

Wonpyo Yun a venture capital analyst at Aisling Capital. He holds an A.B. in Molecular Biology, awarded magna cum laude from Princeton University, where he also received a Certificate in Finance. While in college, Wonpyo was involved in the Cap & Gown Club, a cappella, and was a peer advisor.
